Introducing the Bickley Burger (and our Two Burgers for £15 offer!)
With the way trends are going, soggy buns and cheap burgers are an endangered species. These days, they can be fine food as opposed to fast food, with gourmet burger restaurants springing up everywhere. We thought it was high time to put our own stamp on things with our own best burger recipe, The Bickley.
Our chefs have several ways to make a better burger in this case. Minced beef skirt produces a juicier, more intense flavour than plain mince. Meanwhile, our best burger recipe also includes a few special ingredients, including chives and a touch of Worcestershire Sauce to the patties; Gruyere cheese and chilli salsa on top also add to the flavour. Last but not least, the right bun can also make a big difference. Forget dry, cheap offerings; made with more butter, a brioche bun holds together much better and won’t fall to bits as you eat your burger. Try one for yourself and taste the difference! Fresh from the Fields and Sea
So which Devon foods are at their best in the spring? That depends on your taste. Fresh lamb is must for any Devon restaurant worth its salt at this time of year. Seasoned with garlic and rosemary, and served with Spring Onion Mash and Pea Puree, our lamb shank is sure to hit the spot.
We also keep an eye on local seafood, with dishes such as seared scallops or superb homemade fishcakes ever popular. For vegetarians, on the other hand, the chefs have been busy picking the best of early season greens to add a tasty Spring Vegetable Risotto to the menu. That’s if you can prise yourself away from our Wild Mushroom, Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni.

As with our food menus, we love to keep things tasty and local behind the bar and on our wine list. From just down the road in Paignton, Torbay, Bays Brewery features heavily on the list, with brews that continue to be a big hit with real ale fans.
For non-drinkers or those who sensibly decide to have none for the road, we also have plenty of local choice, with Luscombes range of organic soft drinks on sale too. We also serve fresh coffee and also keep a great wine list in house; just ask if you would like us to recommend a suitable accompaniment to your meal.
For Families and Younger Diners
When looking for places to eat out with kids in Devon, it can be a hassle to find child friendly restaurants that cater for smaller appetites without dishing up junk food. This is why we have a special children’s menu, which uses the same quality ingredients as our dishes for grownups, only in smaller portions. Favourites such as local sausages and mash or fish goujons appeal to even the fussiest youngsters, while we also serve tasty starters and desserts in children’s portions.
