Summer events near Bickley Mill

With the end of Summer in sight, there are still lots of outdoor events to enjoy around South Devon before we approach Autumn. Bickley Mill is located in a perfect location in the county, with plenty of local events happening right on our doorstep. We’ve put together a guide on local events worth visiting over the next couple of months.

August

Torbay Royal Regatta - 20th to 23rd August

The Torbay Royal Regatta returns for 2017, racing a whole range of different boats. There will be four days of competitive racing in yachts, sports boats and dinghies - plenty going on to keep you entertained! The Royal Torbay Yacht Club, who host the event, have built up a reputation for first class race management, competitive racing and fantastic shore side entertainment!

Ladies Day At Newton Abbot Racecourse - 22nd August

Ladies Day is the pinnacle of the racing calendar at Newton Abbot. A perfect opportunity for you to glam up for the evening! Whether you’re out with your friends or entertaining clients, Ladies Day will have everything you need for a spectacular day out!

Sea Change Festival - 25th & 26th August

For two days over the August Bank Holiday weekend, Totnes transforms into a town full of live music, culture and great fun. Sea Change is a town festival with events running in multiple venues across the town, including music, guest speakers and films. There’s sure to be something for everyone at this festival!

Nourish Festival - 2nd September

Bovey Tracey’s annual music, craft and food festival returns for its fourth year. Featuring a whole host of world renowned artists and craft makers, as well as a wide selection of locally produced food and drink. Celebrating the very best in food, craft and music!

Kingsbridge Show - 2nd September

Located just outside of Kingsbridge at Borough Farm, the Kingsbridge Show is celebrating it’s 135th year this September. There are plenty of classes available covering everything from horses to floral art, as well as a variety of local food and drink stalls, music and animal attractions. The show is a fantastic day out for the whole family!

Fishstock Festival - 9th September

This seafood and music festival is situated in the seaside town of Brixham. Fishstock has won many awards over recent years and continues to be a great source of entertainment that attracts a large crowd. All proceeds raised go to the Fishermen's Mission charity. A superb day out for the whole family!

Summer Nights Street Food Festival - 16th September

The Summer Nights Street Food Festival returns again in September to get your taste buds flowing! From Courtenay Street, to the Clock Tower, this food fest aims to show off locally produced dishes and world cuisine. As well as multiple food stalls, there will be live music and entertainment too. A perfect evening for families!

Abbfest - 22nd to 24th September

You could call Abbfest a traditional food, music and beer festival, but it’s much more than that- it’s a charity festival and a get together for the local community. The festival has music, craft stalls, food demonstrations and over 200 local beers and ciders to choose from! Everybody that visits Abbfest, contributes to their charitable effort, which has hit over £200,000 so far!

Classic Car Motor Show - 30th September

An all day event right in the heart of Newton Abbot, featuring some vintage cars from a number of eras, the Classic Car Motor Show is a wonderful day out showcasing cars from yesteryear. With the show being right in the middle of town, you are able to take in the beauty of the town center with some retro cars. This event is free for the whole family.
